Sustainable Events
If you’re hosting an event or market on the Surf Coast, you play an important role in helping reduce waste and protecting our unique coastal and natural environment.
All events held on Council land, in Council facilities or funded through our Events Grant Program are expected to minimise waste and limit their environmental impact, in line with Surf Coast Shire Council’s commitment to reducing single-use items and unnecessary packaging.

The policy applies to events, markets and activities held on Council land and in Council facilities, and supports a shift toward reuse-based solutions rather than disposable alternatives.
Event organisers are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the policy and ensure stallholders, suppliers and contractors are aware of their responsibilities when planning and delivering events.
